Not a Model

Today was Levi's first photo shoot. We failed at having newborn pictures take up until this point and I now know why they want them done before the baby is 2 weeks old... Levi took on a hard core attitude about posing and having anyone take his picture. His way of dealing with it was dirty and resulted in lots of laundry needing to be done.

The very very nice photographer did very well with our little grump! He peed twice on the blanket he was  positioned on within the first 15 minutes of the shoot. He then let us work with him for about 30 minutes. Then peed on the photographer. Levi followed that by wanting to eat. We decided to leave the diaper on to be safe and then he spit up on the new blanket. He needed to be changed shortly after that and he pooped on the ottoman. Needless to say, the photographer received a tip for all her efforts.

I hope that we were able to get some good pictures out of the two and a half hours of the bodily fluid circus. I have learned that babies are machines, but instead of being well oiled like most machinery, they are filled with disgusting fluids. Levi is not shy about sharing these items and that is another reason as to why he will not be a model.

When told how his son was behaving, Ross had one thing to say "Awesome. That's my boy". I have one thing to say to that, "Pray for me"!

    Oh, I feel your pain! Every time gavin does something gross, Javin high fives him! It is like having two children.

It has been pretty quiet around here lately. The past week or so has been full of Ross and I attempting to decide if we should move on post, getting summer plans (somewhat) in order, catching naps when able, and keeping Levi as happy as possible. Out of everything, Levi is still the easiest! We have returned to having the company of a friend of ours who recently returned home from a deployment. He stayed with us for about six weeks before he left last summer ("curse" of the married couple with a handful of single friends!) and we have happily fed him and allowed him to keep us company the past couple nights. Juno LOVES Greg and he keeps her entertained for the time he is here visiting. It doesn't matter the size of the blessing, it is the fact there are blessings everywhere. Change of Identification

Something big happened this week. Levi changed on us and even though we knew the change was coming, it still feels very odd. He's an army kid, so change is an inevitable part of his life. His friends move, his dad travels a lot, he's had more address than Ross and I each had our entire pre-married lives, but this change is different. This change means that to most he is no longer a four year old little boy. He is now a preschooler. Why is it that once a child is in school, we identify them by their class grade instead of their age? Up until they begin school, children are identified by their life age. It starts at birth when we classify them overly specifically like, "Little Boy is 13 months 3 weeks and 5 days old!" But once "Little Boy" begins attending school it changes into, "Little Boy is a kindergartener!" And we continue to do this until people are finished with school no matter the level of education. Late, but Never Forgotten Memory

When I was writing the update post on Thursday it came to my realization that I never did a blog about when Ross came home. At the time it felt like a very personal experience that I wasn't sure I wanted people to be a part of, but then I remembered how many people we had backing our little family up for that time and I think it was a pretty awesome moment in our lives. So, here we go. Four and a half months late, but here is that amazing night. Ross had left his FOB a week or so before, but thankfully we had a website that kept us at home updated when the welcome home ceremony would be. To most that was not needed, but for some reason Ross and I had very little contact that week and I was very happy for that website.
