Out of the Mouth of Babes

If you have ever wanted to know what kind of insane things will continually come out of your mouth as a parent, just wait until you have a mocking bird of a 2 year old to repeat it all. We have encountered certain things coming out of Levi's tiny mouth that make us laugh hysterically and some that make us cringe with shame. Ah parenthood, how you humble us so.

Levi is a talker. He talks a lot. There is very few breaks in the day where he is quiet and not jabbering about something. Whether it be now taking possession of most things in our life (I think this is due to the recent move and his want for normalcy) and referring to things as "my (insert noun)", to saying my warning phrases I use when he is in trouble. Here are some of the most recent gems and I'll provide how they are perceived in our world.

"My Nuno (Juno)"- We like this a lot. He loves his dog, but he has an odd way of showing it by randomly hitting her with anything he can grasp. The dog is a saint.

"MINE!"- We do not care for this. Sharing is going to be a MAJOR part of our life very vey soon. In 6-ish weeks Levi will be a big brother and sharing will be a necessity.

"What you doin'"- This sentence. This sentence is said so often that it makes my shoulders tense up when I hear Levi yell, "Momma??" I know that it is going to be followed with "What you doin'" and that I probably will, if I haven't already, hear it 40 times that day. He may ask it three times in a row and by number three we are ready to scream, "I'VE BEEN DOING THE SAME THING FOR THE LAST 10 SECONDS!"

"Love you more"- This is a fantastic bedtime ritual that melts my heart. He does it more with Ross than he does with me. Levi will continue to say it to Ross for a good thirty seconds after Ross leaves his room for the night. I love this one.

"I told you."- I'm indifferent on this. It's kind of cute in the morning when he is waking up and announcing his presence for the day. It's not so cute when he is in trouble and using my "I told you that you had to mind" tone back at me. Beggars can't be choosers I suppose.

"I love you"- He tells us randomly throughout the day that he loves us and I love that. He also tells most cashiers as we leave stores that he loves them. They get a good chuckle out of it, I sometimes just pretend to not hear him when he says it to strangers.

"See you tomorrow!"- Another thing he proclaims to most cashiers. It makes me feel like I take him shopping too often, because he feels as if we are going to be doing the same thing again tomorrow. Sheesh…

"I do/see it too, too"- I crack up almost every time I hear him say this. It is usually in response to Ross or I saying that we are going to do something or that we saw something that Levi initially pointed out to us. He enjoys the final word (Ahem, Ross).

"No."- Ugh…

"Go to doctor."- I guess when you're two and your mom is pregnant, it must feel like you are going to doctor appointments all the time. At least that is what Levi usually says is our plan for the day.

"Go to Target!"- I am 100% to blame for this. Having a friend who worked at Target 6 days a week led to Levi and I visiting her often. This resulted in Levi learning to like chocolate cake pops and gaining a group of friends who were also Target employees.

"Ride Pa's lawnmower?!?"- This is a fine phrase when we are visiting Ross's parents and Levi is able to ride the lawnmower. It is not a fun one when we are at our house and we have to attempt to explain distance to a two year old. They just don't get it.

"It's too far away."- My typical response when he asks to ride Pa's lawnmower. It has now turned into his answer for whenever I ask him to get something for me or to put something away. Today he told me his diapers were too far away when he was standing beside them.

"Ride in Daddy's tick-up (pick-up)!"- Levi LOVES Ross's truck for some reason. He also loves my parent's pick-up. I don't get it and I find Ross's truck really loud and extremely difficult to hoist myself into these days, but the kid loves it.

"WHAT DO YOU SAY?!"- Our words coming out of our sons mouth. We say this after he belches or does other bodily functions and now he is quick to say it to us when the moment is right. He is very passionate about things at times and for some reason this is almost ALWAYS shouted. Followed by an adorable "'Cuse me!" even if it wasn't him who was needing to say it.

"Baby Tameron (Cameron)"- We are naming Beta Test Baby, Cameron and Levi knows that is who is stretching my stomach out. But as for knowing what will happen when "Tameron" is out in this world, he is in for a world rocking experience.

"I shoot big guns!"- He wants to shoot a gun so bad that I think he can feel it. We can hear and feel rounds of artillery pretty clearly here in the new house and he thinks that is pretty cool. I think it's fun that our little army kiddo enjoys it so much. However, when he was using a soft baseball bat as a gun in Khol's a few weeks back, I had a feeling that we were going to be the newest news story of a child being asked to leave a store for making something into a weapon. So every time he "fired" his "big gun" I responded "Is that your new baseball bat?" Darn society for making me feel odd about my kid's imagination.

"I Spiderman!!"- He usually says this while sitting on a shelf next to our fireplace. He isn't supposed to climb on the shelf and he sure isn't supposed to sit on it, but I always have to stifle a laugh when I hear him yell this sporadically.

"I love you"- It is making it's second appearance on the list, but for good reason. There is something incredibly heartwarming about our wild, rambunctious, loud, clumsy, clever, funny, all-boy two year old come up and give us a kiss and tell us he loves us. Kids are sponges and I am sure glad that he has been told that he is loved often enough to repeat that. Even if it is to the cashier at the grocery store.
