Words to Live By

Levi and I have been here with our Oklahoma family for about a month now. We have been having so much fun with the family and friends! We (a term I use loosely since Levi doesn't understand anything) have also picked up a few things that I would like to share with you.

Ben (age 6): Will Levi be a daddy when he grows up?
Me: I hope so.
Ben: I want to be a daddy when I grow up.
Joe (age 4): I don't!
Ben: Joe, you don't want to get married and have a baby like Ross and Kayla did?!?!
Joe: Nope.

"Is that girl related to those Kardashian things?"

Me: How much do I love you?
Ben: I know, I know... To the moon and back...

Dad: Kayla, you should wean Levi and leave him here. You and Ross can make another one.

Joe: Sorry Kwaya...

Joe: Got your nose Wevi!

A few things have happened that have been milestones for Little Man. He now giggles (one of my favorite noises ever) and this morning he finally rolled over! I was really hoping that he would hold off for Ross to come home for the rolling over, but we didn't make it. I am thankful for technology because I was able to record both events and send them to him. I know it isn't the same, but I'm glad he is getting to see them as we are! I am ready for Ross to come back and spend some time with us before he takes off for another month of training.

Levi will be 4 months old on Tuesday. It is crazy to me that we have already had him for that long and that he has changed so much from the tiny, scary human we brought home from the hospital. He is still tiny in comparison to most humans I know, and still scary. Guess he hasn't changed all that much after all.

It has been pretty quiet around here lately. The past week or so has been full of Ross and I attempting to decide if we should move on post, getting summer plans (somewhat) in order, catching naps when able, and keeping Levi as happy as possible. Out of everything, Levi is still the easiest! We have returned to having the company of a friend of ours who recently returned home from a deployment. He stayed with us for about six weeks before he left last summer ("curse" of the married couple with a handful of single friends!) and we have happily fed him and allowed him to keep us company the past couple nights. Juno LOVES Greg and he keeps her entertained for the time he is here visiting. It doesn't matter the size of the blessing, it is the fact there are blessings everywhere. Change of Identification

Something big happened this week. Levi changed on us and even though we knew the change was coming, it still feels very odd. He's an army kid, so change is an inevitable part of his life. His friends move, his dad travels a lot, he's had more address than Ross and I each had our entire pre-married lives, but this change is different. This change means that to most he is no longer a four year old little boy. He is now a preschooler. Why is it that once a child is in school, we identify them by their class grade instead of their age? Up until they begin school, children are identified by their life age. It starts at birth when we classify them overly specifically like, "Little Boy is 13 months 3 weeks and 5 days old!" But once "Little Boy" begins attending school it changes into, "Little Boy is a kindergartener!" And we continue to do this until people are finished with school no matter the level of education. Late, but Never Forgotten Memory

When I was writing the update post on Thursday it came to my realization that I never did a blog about when Ross came home. At the time it felt like a very personal experience that I wasn't sure I wanted people to be a part of, but then I remembered how many people we had backing our little family up for that time and I think it was a pretty awesome moment in our lives. So, here we go. Four and a half months late, but here is that amazing night. Ross had left his FOB a week or so before, but thankfully we had a website that kept us at home updated when the welcome home ceremony would be. To most that was not needed, but for some reason Ross and I had very little contact that week and I was very happy for that website. We were the fourth or fifth ceremony from this particular deployment and every single one had been delayed anywhere from 3-30 hours late.
